Tackle is moving forward, but many Covid restrictions remain for 2021!
The Club is proceeding with acceptance of tackle registrations for tryout camp which will commence next week. Camp will run on designated nights (initially Wednesday / Thursday is planned) from June 23 to first week of August. It is our hope we will receive provincial approval to issue equipment and engage in contact drills in early August. Until then camp will consist of skill development, conditioning, system implementation and film study (where applicable) etc.
We just received approval last Thursday to proceed with field use with a maximum of 4 x 10 player groupings (prior to that it was 1 group of 10 for the entire field). This was a major element delaying our ability to move forward. Many thanks to the City for the flexibility shown us in this regard.
Coaches will be contacting players shortly to provide the location and time for their individual teams’ practices. The Club will be running Mosquito to Midget teams this year. Tyke players will be directed to Myers this year due to low response at our final decision date.
Players will be provided with a list of requirements they and their parents must follow as there still remains a number of Covid 19 protocols to follow. Nightly check-in, social distancing, masks, etc. Player and volunteer safety is top of mind and while Covid trends are going in the right direction, we will continue to remain vigilant.
All players MUST be registered with the OFA before being allowed on the field.
